🪴Coach yourself out of chatter
Many people talk to themselves in a less compassionate tone when they’re addressing themselves than when they’re speaking to others. Sometimes we keep repeating the same negative repeating the same negative over and over again. This is when we get stuck in chatter. Today we’ll explore how distant self-talk and mental time travel enable you to have a better conversation with yourself. We’ll also discover how you can help others with their chatter. The two-step model that psychology professor Ethan Kross recommends consists of validating, followed by broadening the perspective. We experiment with coaching ourselves as a friendly observer!
